Privacy notice

Plumbers24 is operated by ForgeLab. When you send an enquiry we collect personal information about you, so this explains exactly what happens to it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect

Only what you type: your name, your phone number, and optionally your email address, your suburb, the kind of work you need and whatever you write in the message box. Nothing else. There is no tracking pixel on this site, no advertising network, and no analytics profile built about you.

If you tap WhatsApp or Call instead of filling in the form, we record that a tap happened, from which page and which suburb. That is a counter. It carries no phone number and nothing that identifies you. The same applies if you tap a number on one of the trade register pages: we count that the entry was tapped, which is information about that company rather than about you.

Why we collect it, and who gets it

To pass to one vetted plumber so they can phone you back and quote. That is the whole purpose. Your details go to that one business and to nobody else. We do not sell contact details, we do not add you to a marketing list, and we do not pass anything to a second trade so they can also phone you.

You are entitled to know which business received your details. Ask and we will tell you.

Where it is kept

Your enquiry is stored in our own enquiry system, hosted in South Africa, and is not shared with any third-party marketing service. We keep it for as long as it is useful for the job you asked about and for our own records afterwards, then delete it.

Your rights under POPIA

The Protection of Personal Information Act gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. You can also object to us processing it at all. Doing so costs you nothing and we will not ask you why.

To use any of those rights, message or phone us on the number on this site and say what you want done. If we have already passed your details to a trade we will tell you who, so you can ask them too.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

The "find my nearest area" button

The areas page has a button that works out which suburb you are closest to. If you tap it your browser will ask your permission, and if you say yes it gives the page your position.

That position never leaves your device. Every suburb we cover, and its coordinates, are already in the page you have downloaded, so the sum is done in your browser. Nothing is sent to us, nothing is sent to a lookup service, nothing is stored, and we never see it. Say no and the page works exactly the same: pick your suburb from the list beside the button.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

The trade register on this site

This site republishes IOPSA's public register of plumbers, filtered to Gauteng. That register is published by the Institute of Plumbing South Africa so that the public can check a company before letting it into their home, and it is reproduced here for the same reason. Every entry names its source and links back to the original.

Under POPIA, information about a business is personal information too, so this is worth being plain about. We publish the company name, the town it lists itself in, the contact number on its register entry, and the declarations it has made to the register. We do not publish email addresses, even where the register does, because a page of harvested addresses is a gift to a spam operation and the number is what a person actually needs.

If an entry is yours and you want it changed or gone, say so and it is done. There is nothing to pay, no form, no notice period, no offer attached and no reason required. Message or phone the number on this site. We will confirm when it is removed. Removal is not something this site sells, and it never will be.

Being listed here does not mean we have a relationship with the company, that we recommend it, or that we have sent it any work.
